Heavy downpours are a threat to Pompeii

On Friday, February 6, 2015, another rainstorm in Pompeii meant that in the so-called In the Centennial House, two pieces of plaster detached from the wall. The name of the villa comes from the fact that the building was discovered in 1879, i.e. 1800 years after the eruption of Vesuvius.

The House of the Century itself is dated to the middle of the 2nd century BCE, and it became famous for its numerous erotic scenes immortalized in frescoes. It is suspected that the owner of the residence may have used the house as a private lupanar in ancient times. The Pompeii authorities continue to assess the losses suffered in connection with the intense rainfall that hit the region.
