An unusual Roman pot containing oil lamps has been discovered in 2016 in the Roman fort of Vindonissa in Switzerland. The find is dated to the 1st century CE.
In total, there were 22 oil lamps in the pot, decorated with the image of the moon goddess Luna, a gladiator, a lion, a peacock or an erotic scene. Interestingly, each of the lamps had a bronze coin dated 66-67 CE. Charred pieces of animal bones were also found in the pot.
Scientists still do not know why such a strange combination of a buried find.
