Preserved skull of a Germanic warrior from the Suebi tribe, which dates back to around 100 CE. The head was discovered in Osterby, northern Germany – due to the location of the find, scientists call it “Osterby Man”.
The man died from being hit with a blunt object; then the head was beheaded and thrown into the swamp. Thanks to the excellent conditions in which the head was found, the warrior’s hair has been preserved to this day, tied in a characteristic Suebian knot. Interestingly, the hair color changed from blond to red due to the swamp conditions.
