Armor and helmet were discovered in the Egyptian city of Manfalut and are made entirely of crocodile leather.
According to scientists, the Roman garrison which stationed in the area was strongly integrated with the local community and religious customs. It seems, therefore, that “crocodile armor” had only a parade function and was worn during processions or religious ceremonies. On the Nile embankment, there was a crocodile cult that was celebrated in numerous caves.
