Statue of Ulpia Marciana – the older sister of Emperor Trajan – who has a characteristic diadem-shaped hairstyle.
The emperor greatly appreciated the opinion of his sister, who traveled a lot with him. He dedicated a lot of inscriptions and monuments to her in the Empire. He even founded two cities in her honor: Colonia Marciana Ulpia Traiana Thamugadi (present Timgad in Algeria) and Marcianopolis (present Devnya in Bulgaria).
Ulpia died between 112 and 114 CE. On Trajan’s orders, the Senate recognized her as a deity.
It is located in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.
