Bust of Faustina the Elder from around 138-141 CE. The object was placed in a contemporary alabaster bust. The artifact is in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
Faustina was the wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius (reigned 138-161 CE). The woman was extremely respected by her husband; the proof of this is the fact that the Senate recognized her as a deity, and the Temple of Faustina was erected on Forum Romanum.
