Reconstruction of Roman villa in Chedworth

Reconstruction of a Roman villa in Chedworth (south-west England), which was built at the beginning of the 2nd century CE. The preserved remains of the villa prove that it was one of the largest objects of this type discovered in England.

The object was discovered in the mid-19th century. The villa was rebuilt several times and had private thermal baths. There are discussions to this day as to whether it was a typical country villa (villa rustica), a form of a depot or a religious sanctuary. The foundations and beautiful floor mosaics have survived to our times.

The villa was abandoned in the 5th century CE. with the fall of Roman Britain.
