Romans died during the escape
The photo shows plaster casts of the bodies of Romans in the luxury home of Marcus Fabius Rufus in Pompeii . The placement of bodies on the stairs clearly suggests a vain attempt to escape during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE.
The photo was taken in 1961.
