Amazing sarcophagus with many artifacts discovered in Germany

In the German city Zülpich, a 4.5-ton sarcophagus, which is 1, 700 years old, was discovered. Inside the stone object was body and numerous objects that were to accompany the deceased in the post-mortem life. Zülpich in Roman times was called Tolbiacum.

The discovery was made last year, but information about it appeared recently. The Sarcophagus measures 2.3 by 1.1 meters and is dated to the third century BCE. These types of finds, north of Italy, are a real rarity, because only wealthy residents of the province could afford them.

The buried woman was aged 25-30. There were various finds next to the body: a small folding knife with the image of Hercules (as a handle), sewing needles (where one was decorated with gold), a small vessel with the inscription “Utere Felix (“use this happily”) and a silver mirror.
