In 2017, in Pompeii, one of the ancient bronze ornaments was stolen. A police investigation is underway.

The stolen object is dated to the 6th century BCE and was the decoration for the reproduction of an antique door in the “Pompeii and the Greeks” exhibition. According to initial assumptions, the theft occurred during a daytime visit to the museum. Currently, officers are analyzing monitoring recordings, and the place has been closed to tourists.

The stolen ornament was 3.3 cm long and insured for €300.
