Foundations of Nero Bridge in waters of Tiber were exposed
Due to the recent high temperatures and the lack of rainfall in Italy, the water level in the Tiber decreased so much that the inhabitants saw the remains of the foundations of the bridge built during the reign of Nero (54-68 CE).
The bridge connected the Field of Mars with the other bank of the Tiber, and the road led to Nero’s Circus on Vatican Hill. The bridge was destroyed at the end of the Western Roman Empire.
