Roman cemetery was discovered in France

During construction carried out for a new housing estate, in Narbonne (southern France), traces of the former Roman cemetery were found.

Among the finds are grave steles, dishes and even jewels. Interestingly, the discovered amphoras were buried in an upright position. Scientists explain that in this way various products were poured / thrown in the neck: wine, perfume or fruit; during rituals. Scientists are to carry out research to try to detect protein or fat residues after food.

In total, over 300 graves have been discovered, and it is possible that there are almost a thousand. Interestingly, people with higher social status and slaves were buried in the cemetery; we can also find children’s burials.
