The Roman mosaic was discovered in Lebanon in December 2020. The discovery was made in Baalbek, in the north-east of the country, during work under new sewers.
Researchers suspect that the mosaics may have adorned a large hall in a Roman palace. In antiquity, the city hosted several Roman emperors and was a colony – Colonia Iulia Augusta Felix Heliopolitana.
