Roman terracotta sculptures illegally found in the United States are to be returned to Italy.
The mentioned objects are the “Sitting Poet” and “Sirens”, which are dated to 330-300 BCE. The sculptures were discovered in Taranto in southern Italy. Currently, the artefacts are in the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. As it turns out, they were illegally dug up in Italy, and then transported and sold to the museum. Currently, preparations are underway to transport the valuable sculptures, which, due to their delicate structure, must be subject to appropriate procedures.
