A gold ring containing a stone engraved with the image of Cupid, the Roman god of love, was found in 2015 by a metal detector enthusiast near the English village of Tangley.
Scientists studying the object date it to the 4th century CE, when Britain was part of the Roman Empire. The onyx engraving shows a naked man with one hand resting on a pillar, with a torch in the other. A pair of small wings suggests that the character is Cupid. The treasure ended up in a museum in Hampshire.
