Roman Baths in Malta

In Malta, there are Roman remains of the baths. Those are located near the region of Gnajn Tuffieħa (northwest of the island). The facility was discovered in 1929 when sewage works were carried out.

Scientists suspect that the location was not accidental, because it is where the source of drinking water is located. The baths consisted of separate rooms – tepidarium (warm rooms), frigidarium (cold pool) and caldarium (hot water). Researchers also found the remains of a latrine, corridor or sleeping room.

Most of the discovered rooms had extremely interesting geometric-style floor mosaics.

Currently (as of 2019/2020) the facility is not available to visitors.
