Reconstruction of the image of Maksymin Trak

Reconstruction of the image of Roman emperor Maximinus Thrax made by History in 3D. Maximinus Thrax reigned as emperor in 235-238 CE. He is considered the first barbarian who wore imperial purple.

He was also the first emperor who never appeared in Rome and the first of a whole series of so-called soldier emperors. His rule is considered the beginning of the crisis of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century CE.

Ancient sources, both unbelievable as “Historia Augusta” and the more sensible (Herodian) mentions Maximinus Thrax as a man of “huge size” for those conditions. According to “Historia Augusta” was supposed to measure about 250 cm.
