In northwestern Germany, in Kalkriese, an amazing find was discovered – a fragmented Roman armor (lorica segmentata), which belonged to a legionary from one of the three legions that were defeated by the barbarians in 9 CE in Teutoburg Forest.
Scientists suspect that a well-preserved find, not looted by the Germans, may prove that the soldier was sacrificed and that all his belongings were to be donated to the Germanic gods.
