Roman insula in 3D

Thanks to the “Swedish Pompeii Project” we have the opportunity to see one of the Pompeian tenement houses in 3D. The user can select a room and move around it.

The “Swedish Pompeii Project” started in 2000 at the Swedish Institute in Rome. The aim of this project was a virtual reconstruction of a tenement house in Pompeii – Insula V 1. Further information about the reconstruction of the building is published on the project website. Those interested can choose the room they want to go to. The chambers have been recreated in 3D with lasers, and the user has the ability to move around and zoom in on details in the room.
