Beautiful mosaic in so-called House of Skeletons

Beautiful mosaic in the so-called The House of Skeletons in the archaeological park in the former Roman city of Conimbriga (central Portugal).

The aforementioned Roman house is a great example of a prestigious private residence with a peristyle and a large dining room. The building was erected at one of the most important thoroughfares in the city, at the end of the 2nd or beginning of the 3rd century CE.

At the end of the Empire, the area where the house was located was demolished for the defensive wall being built. Later on, there was a late Roman and medieval cemetery – hence the name.
