Sculpture of emperor Antoninus Pius
Sculpture of emperor Antoninus Pius , who reigned in the Roman Empire in the years 138-161 CE. The artifact is in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
The period of his reign is a time of prosperity and peace, often called Pax Romana . Antoninus Pius was widely regarded for his approachability, graciousness, love of peace, and highly moral lifestyle. He stayed most of the time in Rome and did not leave Italy , receiving delegations from all provinces .
