Sculpture of emperor Antoninus Pius, who reigned in the Roman Empire in the years 138-161 CE. The artifact is in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.

The period of his reign is a time of prosperity and peace, often called Pax Romana. Antoninus Pius was widely regarded for his approachability, graciousness, love of peace, and highly moral lifestyle. He stayed most of the time in Rome and did not leave Italy, receiving delegations from all provinces.
