In Pompeii since 2016, you can admire the sculptures of the Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj, who died in 2014. The artist lived and worked in Tuscany for many years.
Bronze sculptures are inspired by ancient art. Polish sculptor interpreted works of artists from ancient Greece and Rome, referred to myths – hence the titles of his sculptures, including Ikar, Ikaria, Eros. The figures he showed were distorted, wounded, with empty eye sockets. The sculptor claimed that the reference to myths is only a clue to the audience.
To this day tourists visiting the city are delighted with the works of the Pole.
