In 2018, 2,000-year-old silver Roman coins were discovered in Gloucestershire (southern England). According to scientists, it is a unique find.
The find was discovered by treasure hunt enthusiast Susan Hurrel. Eight discovered coins date from the interval 134 BCE until 37 CE, i.e. the times of the late republic and early empire. Most likely, the coins were lost after the Romans conquered Britain in 43 CE.
According to the lucky finder, she would like to keep the treasure, even if she has to pay some money to the owner of the field where she made the discovery. At the moment, local museum officials have expressed a wish to buy back the valuable artefacts.
