In Gloucester (England), excavations are carried out, as a result of which a Roman burial ground was discovered, with numerous burials and fragments of pottery.
The excavation work began on January 9 and is now coming to an end. Their aim was to investigate the place where a large residential complex is to be built – Linden Homes. It is worth noting that the first graves in this place were discovered in 1966 during construction works for the university building.
As a result of the excavations, fences, streets, pits, a cemetery and two late-Roman furnaces were discovered. 153 people were buried in the cemetery and 4 were cremated. The tests revealed that the dead were of rather short birth, and the numerous fractures prove that they were to do hard physical work.
