Rome’s Piazza Augusto Imperatore, the famous square that houses the Mausoleum of Emperor Augustus and which is a few steps from Ara Pacis, will be rebuilt. The project provides for archaeological works, including the renovation of the Mausoleum, which was built in 28 BCE and was closed to tourists for years.
The main part of the project, however, will involve the construction of new pavements and sidewalks running perpendicular to the Tiber. According to the designers, the goal is to combine the history of an ancient place with its modern elements. The budget for this investment is approximately EUR 17 million.
