Scientists using the latest methods of examining bones revealed that the bones they found belonged to newborns who were buried among adults. This proves that families organized their deceased children a dignified burial.
Originally, historians claimed that the ancient Romans often decided to kill a child after the birth of a child, guided by the fact that the family had more male members. The latest research mentioned above proves, however, that this was not always the case.
Ten children’s skeletons from various cemeteries within London were used for the study. Using microtomography, scientists were able to compare internal bone structures without damaging them.
