In July 2021, the wreckage of a Roman transport ship was discovered near the coast of Sicily, with numerous vessels and amphoras. The object is dated to the 1st-2nd century BCE.
The discovery took place near Palermo (northern coast), at a depth of 92 meters. The researchers, with the help of an underwater robot, managed to descend into the wreckage and take close-up photos of the object.
