Curiosities of ancient Rome (Artifact)

Interesting Roman olive lamp. The object is made of bronze and dates to the 1st BCE – 1st century CE.

A portrait – in the form of a tondo – showing Trajan as an elderly man, on whom are seen marks of: time and stress. The object is dated 117 CE; shortly before his death. Currently, the artifact is in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara (Turkey).

Roman mask, made of bronze, which was worn by cavalary-men during the competitions, so-called hippika gymnasia. Dated to 1st – 2nd century CE.

Roman bust of young Ptolemy of Mauritania, grandson of Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony. The sculpture was made of bronze and dates to the 1st century CE.

Marble bust of Claudia Antonia – daughter of emperor Claudius. The property is located in Domus Romana (Roman villa) in the city of Mdina, in Malta. Dated to the 1st century CE.

The “Berthouville Treasure” was accidentally discovered by a French farmer while plowing in northern France. The discovery came in March 1830 and the treasure found contained one of the most impressive collections of very well preserved Roman objects made of silver. This is the third such great find in history.

A well-preserved Roman helmet from the 2nd century CE. The object was found in a field in Sivac, in northern Serbia. Currently, it is in a museum in Sombor.

Bronze bust of a Roman woman from the 1st century CE. The find is in the Archaeological Museum in Empuries, in Spain.
