Cameo showing Augustus , Livia and young Nero . The object was created in the middle of the 1st century CE, during the reign of Nero (54-68 CE).
The young emperor wanted to emphasize his connection with the creators of the Julian-Claudian dynasty and respect for great-grandparents, whom he did not really meet- Nero was born after their death.
