Discovered tombstone with curse in Israel

An ancient tombstone was discovered with a red inscription saying, “The converted Jacob swears by himself that whoever opens this tomb will be cursed”. The object was found in the ancient city of Beth She’arim in Galilee, Israel.

Scientists estimate that the find is dated either to the Late Roman or Early Byzantine period. The tombstone was found in a cave that was part of a larger complex that was discovered last year.

The curse was written to ensure the peace of the deceased after death and to prevent the opening of the tomb. According to the team of researchers, he will not open the tomb and will respect the will of the deceased.
