In 2016, construction workers in Spain, while working on sewer pipes, discovered 600 kg of coins from the times of ancient Rome.

The find was discovered in southern Spain, in Tomares – near Seville. The bronze coins dating back to the late 3rd and early 4th century CE. They were all in 19 amphoras. Experts make it clear that the find is worth several million euros. The coins have inscriptions of Emperors Maximian and Constantine, who probably paid them for their soldiers and officials.

Local authorities ordered that work on the sewage system be stopped in order to start archaeological works on the site.
