Roman mosaic fully unveiled in eastern England

The Roman mosaic in East England was fully exposed
Richard Miller

In Boxford (eastern England), the Roman mosaic was fully unveiled, which dates back to the 4th century CE. The discovery was made in 2015; however, only now can we fully admire the preserved object.

The mosaic consists of several scenes from mythology. Among others we see Bellerophon who on Pegasus defeats the monster or Pelops defeats his rival in the chariot race. You can also see Hercules killing the centaur and Alexander the Great, who subjugates Bucephalus.

So as you can see, the work was largely dominated by horses. What’s more, you can see the inscription: “I want to live”.
