Turtle remains have been discovered in Pompeii

An unusual find was made in Pompeii in the last few days. In the remains of the ancient city, the preserved remains of a pregnant female turtle and her eggs were found.

According to researchers, the animal sought refuge in a collapsed house that was destroyed by an earthquake in 62 CE. Then the house was buried by volcanic ash and stones were thrown from Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE.

Scientists believe that the collapsed house is proof that Pompeii, after the cataclysm of 62 CE, until the eruption of Vesuvius, faced the reconstruction of the city, which was a real building site.
