“Romulus” – new series from Roman times

This post is also available in: Polish (polski)

Romulus and Gnaeus
A scene from the Romulus series

“Romulus” – a new historical series from the times of ancient Romans will appear on HBO. This time we will have the opportunity to get to know the very beginning of Rome, around which many legends and messages have been preserved. The series will consist of 10 episodes and contain many magical aspects.

Viewers are to be transferred to the 8th century BCE when a new settlement was to be formed near the Tiber, which in the future would dominate the known ancient world. However, the creators focused on showing not the legendary version of the “Eternal City”, but tribal rivalry and the life of the early Italian tribes. The legendary she-wolf that was supposed to feed the twins Romulus and Remus in the series was replaced by a warrior leader of the rebellion who will seek to throw off the yoke and create a new community free from slavery, superstition and oppression. A large part of the action is to take place in Alba Longa, a city that had a great influence on the development of Rome, and in the series, it serves as the central centre of power.

What will certainly interest many is the fact that the actors will use archaic Latin, which will add realism to the series. Additionally, the scenography and costumes are to be based on preserved Etruscan frescoes. The title will feature mainly Italian actors of the young generation.

“Romulus” is a production created for Sky Italia. The viewers will be able to watch the series on the HBO platform.
