From the new year, the prices for a ticket authorizing you to visit the Colosseum or Forum Romanum will increase from 12 to 16 euros. Importantly, however, the number of seats you can see with this ticket has also been increased.
At a price of 16 euros tourists will also be able to see, among others House of Augustus, House of Livia, church of Santa Maria Antiqua, temple of Romulus. In the extended ticket for 22 euros, the time of visiting was extended to two days.
This change is largely due to the desire to ensure the safety of Coliseum visitors. According to the Italian Ministry of Culture, no more than 3,000 people may be at the Coliseum. Over the past decade, the Colosseum has been visited by nearly 60 million tourists; 7 million last year
Next year, a new tourist attraction will open – a route in the footsteps of Emperor Nero, including after the remains of the palace of the ruler of the Palatine – destroyed by the famous fire in 64 CE.
