During the construction works carried out in the city of Rastan in Syria, a very well-preserved, beautiful Roman mosaic was discovered. The mosaic is 120 square meters and shows scenes from the Trojan War or Roman mythology.
We can see, among others the moment of killing the Amazon queen Hippolytus by Hercules as part of his 12 works; or Neptune with his lovers.
Still, archaeologists are unable to say whether the preserved large mosaic floor decorated a private house or thermal baths. It is certain that the object is about 1600 years old.
