Two treasure hunters discovered almost 2,000 coins

A pair of treasure hunters have discovered nearly 2,000 Roman coins in a field in Cornwall, England. As it turned out, these are finds from the 3rd century CE.

Along with the coins, there was a tin container with a handle and a lid, which probably contained the coins. Together, the finders discovered 1,965 coins that date back to 253-274 CE.

The lucky explorers are 18-year-old Kyle Neil and 45-year-old Darren Troon. They both belong to the metal detecting club “Kernow Search and Recovery”. The find is currently being surveyed and valued by the British Museum. The Royal Cornwall Museum is interested in purchasing the coins.
