Another discovery was made at the bottom of the sea in Baie – a Roman mosaic showing a fish was discovered under the water; I will probably advise. It is part of a larger composition depicting sea animals that once adorned the floor of a Roman villa.
According to the researchers, the mosaic, along with the rest of the composition, will be open to the public for tourists. The ruins lie only a few meters deep – all you need to “explore” is a tube and a mask.
Baiae was a trendy Roman spa with wonderful villas, incl. Caesar and Nero, near today’s Naples. However, most of the ancient city found itself under the waters of the Gulf of Naples as a result of volcanic activity.
